Our Journey - Why Early Childhood Development?

We are an interracial couple with roots in Singapore, Malaysia, and India, and our journey into early childhood development is as unique as our backgrounds. Our story begins with our diverse upbringings. Both from single-parent households (and that's where our similarities begin and end!), we experienced a wide range of educational settings across six different countries. Our differences extend even further: one is an only child, while the other has a twin and over 20 direct cousins.

As we built our life together, we noticed how profoundly our early childhood experiences had shaped our habits, sense of independence, and approaches to life. From self-weaning to household chores, language exposure, and the introduction of phonics, our early childhood years were diverse yet equally impactful. These differences highlighted the various ways babies and toddlers can be taught responsibility, self-reliance, and resilience early on, serving them well for years to come.

As our friends and family started becoming parents, we found ourselves searching for meaningful, educational gifts that would give babies the right start in life. This search, combined with our reflections on our own early childhood experiences, led us to discover the importance of play-based learning and self-weaning and inspired us to create our online store.

At Tiny Tots Trove, we offer carefully designed play kits, baby feeding sets, and resources for sleep training. Our products are rooted in well-researched early childhood development principles, drawing inspiration from Montessori and Waldorf approaches. We believe in equal opportunity for all, fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and independence from an early age. Regardless of a child’s family background, our play kits are designed to provide systematic learning through play, with each toy catering to a specific aspect of brain development, and our baby feeding sets developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and independence.

Our advice may not resonate with everyone, and that's okay. Our intention is to share our firsthand experiences, and if you find something helpful, feel free to take it on board. We've consulted various specialists to develop our products and blog content, aiming to provide practical, research-based solutions for common parenting challenges and ultimately take the guesswork out of parenting.

In delivering this guidance through our early childhood development-focused products and blogs, we have interviewed and surveyed several parents, grandparents, child psychologists, speech therapists, sleep therapists, and educational experts to develop products that truly cater to giving your child the best start. We are still developing a few other products, so please bear with us.

In the meantime, we welcome emails, phone calls, and coffee chats, so feel free to reach out to us! Think of us as your personal science experiment—no lab coat required!
